Power Automate doesn't have its own general-purpose programming language like Power Fx. Instead, it uses a combination of workflow actions, expressions, and, when needed, Power Fx or custom code depending on the scenario.

Power Fx is Microsoft's low-code formula language for the Power Platform. It is primarily used to add logic, calculations, and data operations in Power Apps, and it's also supported in other Power Platform products such as Copilot Studio, Power Pages, and parts of Power Automate.

  • Plugin (C#): Server-side code that runs in Dataverse/Dynamics 365 to execute business logic during events like create, update, or delete.

  • JavaScript: Client-side code that runs in the browser to customize form behavior, validate data, and respond to user interactions in Dynamics 365.
